A 2 year old boy had been tragically killed after straying into the path of a roller-coaster at a funfair at Ducketts Common, in Turnpike Lane, North London.
Erjon Hyseni had been enjoying himself, playing on a bouncy castle, when his father lost sight of him for a few seconds. Upon instantly realising that he had vanished, he heard the screams of onlookers and turned around to find his son lying fatally injured next to the tracks.
The boy somehow evaded the attention of both his father and the funfair supervisors by slipping through the barriers guarding the ‘Go-Gator’ ride.
He then ran on to the tracks, where he was hit by oncoming carriages.
His distraught father and an on site paramedic desperately tried to resuscitate him.
Erjon’s death is believed to be the first on a British fairground for the past nine years.
Friends of the family last night said the boy’s 26-year-old father was too upset to speak. His mother, Migena Hyseni, is believed to have been at the couple’s North London home with their five-month-old daughter when the accident happened.
'His father was too upset to speak to any of us. All he could do was cry. They are heartbroken.’
The couple, who are thought to be Kosovan Albanian, were yesterday being comforted by relatives.
The Health and Safety Executive are investigating.
